Rosetta Stone Spanish (Latin America) Level 1

Rosetta Stone Spanish (Spain) Level 1

One of the most widely known and most popular of the Spanish language-learning programs on the market today is Rosetta Stone's Spanish Program. The Spanish Language Program comes in both Latin American and Spain versions delivered either on CDs or by online subscription.
The multimedia program includes intereactive instruction on listening comprehension, reading, speaking and writing. Numerous studies have shown that the more senses we involve in the learning process, the better we retain the information. The Rosetta Stone language learning software excels at involving our senses.
Of all the language-learning programs I have used or reviewed, the Rosetta Stone software program is by far the best I have found for young students. It is colorful, interactive, challenging and just plain fun for children. Much more so that other methods of instruction that may in some cases appeal more to some adults. However, having said this, I do not mean to imply in any way that Rosetta Stone is not a great program for adults as well. It is just that some people learn better through their auditory sense while others learn better using their visual sense. For example, for years I felt that the Pimsleur method was the best method available for learning conversational spoken Spanish, based on my personal experience with a number of different programs, ranging from formal classroom instruction, language books, audio tapes, to video series. However, my wife could not seem to advance all that well without seeing the language in writing (Pimsleur is weak in reading and writing). So I purchased a copy of Rosetta Stone for her and she loves it. After watching her use the program for a while, I too became engrossed in the program and understand why it has become so popular.
How the Rosetta Stone Spanish Software Works
Rosetta Stone Spanish is intuitive, interactive, and visually engaging. With Rosetta Stone you will never have to translate or memorize lists of vocabulary words or phrases Rosetta Stone uses a process called Dynamic Immersion® where you learn Spanish naturally by associating Spanish words with rich images paired with sound and text. Rosetta Stone calls the learning expeerience "Dynamic Immersion" because you use five dynamic strategies to accelerate your language learning: images, intuition, interactivity, instruction and, of course, the immersion environment itself. In this case, "immersion" means that you're completely surrounded by the Spanish language with no translation, just like you learned your first language - naturally.
With Rosetta Stone Spanish, you will initually learn the meaning of Spanish words from clear, real-life images. You will then advance using language you've learned and clues from new images, showing objects or showing action. You constantly interact with the porgram to confirm your intuition. From beginning to end you build systematically toward your language-learning goals, for the most effective and enjoyable instruction I've found so far. And finally, you get the fun of trying your new language in a real-life situation where speech recognition shows you exactly how well you are doing.

Bottom Line: Highly Recommended - especially for Homeschoolers
NOTE: Need or want to learn Spanish faster? Combine Rosetta Stone Spanish with an audio program from one of the other top programs to expand your vocabulary and accelerate your ability to converse in the language. While there will be some overlap, initially you will find that each program will initially introduce largely different sets of vocabulary and while Rosetta Stone program is focusing on all four aspects of the language, i.e., speaking, reading, writing, and listening and comprehension, the primarily audio program will be focusing on speaking, listening and comprehension. The two programs will be complementary with each other and synergistically propell you along at a faster rate then either program alone. Spend an hour each night with Rosetta Stone on your computer and listen to your audio program while driving to and from work or shopping in your car. This will also expose you to more people speaking the language with different voices which will enhance your listening capability.
